Ija Charles, 17, a senior at Westwood High School was asked by Catherine J. Carter, coordinator of the Black History Program for the community of Houma, Lousisana, to create this year's Black History Symbol Banner. The banner that Ija created depicts African American history, heritage, and culture. This banner will be posted in downtown Houma, LA Courthouse Square during the month of February. Ija's banner will be unveiled on January 31, 2015 at Houma's Courthouse Square from 2pm-4pm.
