Dear Juniors & Seniors,
Francis Marion University will be hosting the 12th Annual South Carolina Engineering & Physics Scholars Institute on its campus November 20-22, 2014. Students will participate with their peers in a variety of advanced physics experiments in nuclear and atomic physics, lasers, health physics, medical physics, and computational physics. This will be a unique opportunity for students to use upper-level physics equipment in a university setting. The Institute will also provide participants with the opportunity to interact with students from around the state and physics majors from FMU. The Physics and Astronomy faculty and senior students from Francis Marion University will run the Institute.
All applicants must be seniors or juniors in high school. Thirty participants will be selected based on their ability and interest in exploring further opportunities in science. All costs, except travel to and from the Institute, are being provided by FMU. Also, FMU scholarships will be offered to all participants who attend the Institute and enroll at Francis Marion University.
Applications must be received by October 17, 2014. Successful applicants will be notified by October 31, 2014. Students may use the web based application form to apply at:
