Westwood High School has teamed up with PalmettoPride to help to turn its campus into a litter-free zone. On Friday, October 10 fans representing each school will be challenged to keep the stands litter-free. Students will hand out personal-size litter bags to each fan entering the stadium to use for disposing their trash.
“We see a problem at sporting events where visitors leave their trash behind because they think it is the school’s responsibility to clean it up,” said Sandra Bryan, Program Manager for PalmettoPride. “Litter-Free Games is a great way to empower students to teach others the valuable lesson that littering is wrong everywhere.”
Litter-free games will cut down on the time it takes custodial staff and groundskeepers to clean up after fans have left. Litter-Free Games is a student-run program that creates an inviting environment for friends, families and visitors to your school sporting events while bringing awareness to an important issue: our environment.
